BAJJIET
2025
This body of work takes the coastal landscape as its point of departure, translating aerial views of bays and seascapes into abstract compositions of colour, gesture and surface. Camilleri reduces the relationship between land, water and shoreline to shifting fields and fragmented forms, allowing geographical space to become a study of movement, atmosphere and perception.
Layers of pigment, gestural marks and textured surfaces evoke the changing qualities of the sea and coastline while resisting literal representation. The works occupy a space between aerial observation and abstraction, examining how a familiar landscape can be transformed through memory, perspective and the material language of painting.
