FLOATING
BODIES

2023

This body of work approaches abstraction as a process of translating the observed world. Drawing on his immediate surroundings, Camilleri fragments and reconstructs recognisable forms through line, colour, surface and gesture. The figurative is progressively displaced while retaining traces of its original reference, producing compositions that occupy a space between recognition and ambiguity.

Through layered surfaces and shifting forms, the works examine how perception and memory transform the familiar, positioning abstraction as a means of exploring the relationship between observation, experience and materiality.
